Triumph Spitfire mk4 – 1972

I’m selling my 1972 Triumph Spitfire MK4. I’ve owned the car since February 2023 and have genuinely enjoyed every minute with it. I originally bought it to see if I would enjoy owning, driving, and tinkering with a classic car—and it turns out I absolutely love it… as does the rest of the family!

That’s precisely why I’m now taking the next step and pursuing a long-time dream classic.
Unfortunately, with limited space, the Spitfire has to make way.

I purchased the car as a “rolling restoration” project. While it was drivable when I bought it, I’ve carried out extensive work over the past three years to improve reliability, drivability, and overall condition. This includes refurbishing major mechanical components such as the brakes, carburettors, differential, and gearbox, along with addressing many smaller issues.

Today, it’s a straight, rust-free and good-looking car that drives well and is perfect for weekend drives or Cars & Coffee meets.

Condition
I’ve aimed to keep the car as close to original and period-correct as possible, using original parts or similar replica parts wherever feasible. That said, it’s not a concours car:
• Paint is presentable but certainly not show quality
• Originally dark red (“Damson Maroon” in Triumph speak), now repainted white by a previous owner (including door sills, engine bay, boot and underside)
• Chrome bumpers show pitting
• Soft top will need replacement if you plan to drive in wet weather

Also note this car is on club-registration currently which cannot unfortunately not be transferred (happy to provide blue slip inspection upon purchase if needed).

Summary
This is a sorted, rust-free Spitfire that’s ready to be enjoyed as-is, with scope for further improvement if perfection is desired. It’s a fantastic, fun classic that never fails to put a smile on your face. I’ve described the car as transparently and thoroughly as possible, but feel free to get in touch (Martijn Tiemens on 0448 498 869 or mtiemens@hotmail.com) with any questions or to arrange an inspection.
